Robert Cloutier

Rob Cloutier, owner of Digital History Studios has been a 3D cinematic animator and compositor for the past 24+ years, 12 of which had been in the computer gaming field.  He has worked on several high profile games such as Sid Meier’s Civilization IV, Sid Meier’s Pirates, Sid Meier’s Railroads, Rise of Nations, Gunship!, European Air War and many other history-oriented titles.  He has taught classes on 3D animation and has published multiple articles in international trade-oriented periodicals.  His clients have also included documentary producers, historic preservation groups, online museums, government agencies, NASA, Discovery Communications, the Smithsonian Institution and the Newseum in Washington DC.  Rob recently helped produce an interactive VR experience for the Newseum on the Berlin Wall, creating the 3D assets for the project.  He stresses historical accuracy in his projects along with a cinematic attention to detail.  His passion for history also finds him giving tours to local Civil War battlefields and other historic sites.  Rob has also been active in the VR community organizing, hosting and presenting on several VR panel discussions for various groups in DC and Puerto Rico, and is the Co-Chair of the Greater DC Metro VR meetup group in Washington, DC.  His website can be found at, his regular Animation Demo reel at and his 360 Animation Demo reel at
